Balmung Medical Celebrates a Milestone at the "HorizonQuarter" in Kirchbichl

Kirchbichl, May 28, 2026 – Together with over 200 invited guests from the business, political, and social sectors, we celebrated a significant milestone at the “HorizonQuarter” in Kirchbichl. The event took place in a festive setting and in the presence of Tyrolean Governor Anton Mattle at the Logistics Hall North, which is now nearly complete.

This not only brings the opening of the first logistics unit closer, but also marks visible progress in the construction of the other parts of the building—in particular the approximately 55-meter-tall office complex.

In parallel with the construction of the North Logistics Hall, the South Logistics Hall is being built in the southern part of the site, with completion scheduled for the end of 2026 or early 2027. While we will use the North Logistics Hall as our central warehouse in the future, the southern area will house a distribution warehouse with excellent transportation links.

With our new headquarters in Kirchbichl, we are creating far more than just a traditional logistics hub for the Balmung Medical Group. In the future, management, administration, and logistics will be consolidated at this central location, laying the foundation for modern and efficient structures to support our international operations.

In addition, the site will be further developed as a platform for research, development, and innovative healthcare projects. This will help ensure the continuity of care in the healthcare system and strengthen the medical infrastructure in the long term.

Sustainable Transformation of an Industrial Site

The “HorizonQuarter” is being built on the site of the former Perlmooser cement plant. In total, over 110 million euros will be invested in this forward-looking project by the time it is fully completed.

In addition to the buildings currently under construction, a childcare facility and a second office tower are also planned for a subsequent phase. The project is being developed and implemented by our sister company, BlackHorizon Group, which specializes in project development and real estate within the corporate group.

Construction began after a complex demolition of the existing industrial facilities. This involved the demolition of approximately 214,000 m³ of enclosed space and three silo towers up to 65 meters high. The resulting material—approximately 120,000 tons of recycled concrete—was reused directly on site, enabling the sustainable development of the site.

This comprehensive sustainability concept was awarded a Gold Pre-Certificate by the DGNB.

Modern work environments and new infrastructure

The overall concept of the HorizonQuarter combines logistics, office infrastructure, and modern workspaces and lounge areas. The complex is complemented by a publicly accessible staff restaurant featuring fresh, prepared meals, a seminar and event area, and an exclusive sky restaurant located over 50 meters above ground with panoramic views.

In addition, a fitness center and childcare facilities will be available on-site for employees. In the final phase of expansion, a total of up to 1,000 jobs will be created.
