Balmung Medical aims high and charters largest cargo aircraft in the world

After more than 18 years, the Antonov AN-225 is landing on Austrian soil again to ensure the supply of medical supplies in the country.

On Tuesday, interested onlookers were able to marvel at the legendary Antonov AN-225 at Hörsching Airport. The owner-managed Tyrolean company Balmung Medical Handel GmbH, based in Langkampfen, has pulled out all the stops to ensure the supply of medical supplies to the Austrian market and is bringing the world's largest cargo aircraft to Linz for this purpose.


Balmung Medical was founded in 2004 by Engelbert Leobacher (CEO) and has been one of the most successful companies in the medical and healthcare products sector for over 17 years. Due to continuous growth, Engelbert Leobacher 2021 has decided to acquire an area of over 50,000m² in Kirchbichl/Tyrol in order to build a new Balmung headquarters there. In this building complex, he wants to create 150 state-of-the-art workplaces for his many long-standing, as well as future employees.
