Ground-breaking ceremony for new Balmung headquarters: the HorizonQuarter

Kirchbichl, July 10, 2025 - The official ground-breaking ceremony on Thursday marked the start of one of the region's most important construction projects: the "HorizonQuarter" is being built on the site of the former Perlmooser cement plant in Kirchbichl - and with it, Balmung's new home.

The project marks a milestone in the company's development for the owner-managed company. With the new headquarters and central warehouse, Balmung is not only creating urgently needed capacity for further global growth, but is also making a strong commitment to Tyrol as a business location.

"Today's ground-breaking ceremony marks an important milestone for a project whose significance goes far beyond our own corporate policy objectives. We are delighted that our vision is now becoming a reality," emphasizes Engelbert Leobacher, Managing Partner of Balmung and BlackHorizon Group.

Tailor-made for the future of Balmung

In future, Balmung will be the main user of both the central warehouse and large parts of the modern office complex. The planning of the project was closely aligned with the company's requirements from the outset - from semi-automated logistics to ultra-modern working environments for the growing workforce.

The new Balmung central warehouse is already being built in the first construction phase on the northern part of the site. This will be followed by the start of construction for the headquarters in the south, which is scheduled for completion in early 2028.

The new company premises will offer around 13,747 m² of gross floor space for Balmung offices. In addition, an attractive overall environment will be created with flexible areas for external rental, a company restaurant, seminar and event rooms, a fitness studio and a planned childcare facility. At a height of around 50 meters, an exclusive sky restaurant with a panoramic view will invite you to linger.

Sustainably built - planned with foresight

HorizonQuarter is being developed by the BlackHorizon Group, which acquired the site back in 2020. Following the dismantling of the old industrial facilities - including three silo towers up to 65 meters high - the site was completely redeveloped. In total, over 214,000 m³ of enclosed space was removed and 120,000 tons of recycled concrete material was produced.

The project was awarded gold pre-certification by the DGNB during the planning phase - proof of the sustainable orientation and long-term life cycle approach of the construction project.

The construction is being carried out by the general contractor Goldbeck Rhomberg, a specialist in modern system construction. The total investment amounts to around 110 million euros.

A location with prospects

The HorizonQuarter in Kirchbichl is not only an architecturally and functionally outstanding ensemble of buildings, but above all a central location for innovation, progress and collaboration - in keeping with Balmung's philosophy.
